My nephew is having a great time with his cousins, and discovering new things. The boys took great pleasure in introducing him to the Badi today and Harry had a marvellous time scaling - and then jumping off - the climbing wall.

My nephew arrived this morning fit the week. He flew alone with Swiss Airlines. He loved the experience of 'flying unaccompanied' and he was well looked after! Thanks Swiss!

After the disappointment of the Mens Olympic road race - not only did Mark Cavendish not win but Cancellara crashed out and has seemingly broken his collarbone - I, and the rest of the family needed cheering up. So off we popped to the centre of town to watch the Coop Volleyball tournament. Free to watch and great fun. I embarrassed the boys by dancing to the music between points but it was hard not to get into the spirit. 

Finals are tomorrow so lets hope it doesn't rain too much!

Something that I learned in my Deutschkurs which I have had to pass on to John and the boys. Frei does mean Free - but it doesn't mean that you don't have to pay. It means free as in not taken/unoccupied. If something is free/no charge, it is kostenlos or gratis!

Isaac introduced me to a new game when we were on holiday. Called Stadt Land Fluss, it's a category game in which you're given a letter of the alphabet and have to think of a word in a number of categories. Apparently Isaac plays it in German lessons at school when there are a few minutes to fill. I'm used to playing it in English but we had fun on holiday trying to play with our sometimes limited German vocabulary.

So we were amused to see these placemats in Wachter! Very tempted...

I've been married 18 years today. This anniversary was celebrated with wine, chocolate, flowers and a trip to Tibits. Unlike last year when it was a trip to casualty after John had a mishap with a plank of wood with a nail in it embedding itself in his face!

Dogs in church? Oh yes, dogs go everywhere in Switerland. And they're very well behaved too. Must have something to do with them all being trained and licensed!

A play area in the middle of a city? Actually it's not a play area but the road/path surface seems to be made of that bouncy stuff they use in play grounds. Pretty cool!

We went to GLATT today to get John's iPod touch sorted - we love the Apple store ;o) - and saw that LEGO have a 'play area' on the ground floor. There's a giant yellow car being built but I liked the animals best!

John decided yesterday to extend our holiday by an hour and cross Zürichersee on the car ferry. Just because!

Great fun, especially as John decided to hang out of the window to take photographs!

Two photographs today.

We took a trip on the Jungfraubahn, celebrating 100 years this year, up the Jungfraujoch from Lauterbrunnen via Wengen and Kleine Scheidig. It was a very cloudy day but the sky atop the mountain was blue when we took this photo. 30 minutes later, visibility was virtually zero!

And I can't post today without a photograph of us watching the European Cup final in an Italian restaurant, PizPaz , in Interlaken. Didn't stop me shouting loudly for Spain!
